Revenue seize herbal cannabis and cannabis resin worth €480,000 at Shannon Airport

Yesterday (07/04/2024), as a result of risk profiling, Revenue officers seized 23 kgs of herbal cannabis and 3.3 kgs of cannabis resin with an estimated value of €480,000 at Shannon Airport.

The illicit drugs were discovered within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight from Faro, Portugal.

A woman in her 60s was subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda Station in County Clare.

Investigations are ongoing.
