Correcting/Updating Personal Information

If your personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer wish to use our service, we will provide a way to correct, update or remove your personal data from the records on our internet system.

Confidentiality and Security

Revenue has a legal duty to protect the confidentiality of taxpayer information. We take every precaution to protect any information you submit via our website, both online and offline, in accordance with national Data Protection legislation and applicable EU directives. Throughout the LPT registration process, and also when you are submitting sensitive information such as that required in a tax return, the information is encrypted to protect confidentiality, and protected according to industry best practice. Industry standard methods of encryption are also used by the LPT online service to ensure confidentiality of all LPT information transferred over the internet.

Registration

The website offers several services including the facility to send tax returns, view current account data and make payments via the internet. During registration, we ask you to provide certain details to allow us to verify your identity. You may also be asked to provide contact information (such as an e-mail address), which we will use to let you know about the services on our website and to respond to your questions about the services. Once you have retrieved your LPT secure PIN you may access the secure services within our site. We may send further e-mails later to inform you of changes to the services or relevant taxes and duties.

Collection of Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses

When you use the internet, you are assigned an IP address and when you visit our site we log the IP address of your web server. This is used for a number of reasons including administering the site, analyzing trends and gathering statistics.
