Revenue's On-Line Service wins Award

The Revenue On-Line Service (ROS) has won a top award under the heading 'Digital Media Innovation' at the O2 Digital Media Awards held in the Burlington Hotel on Thursday, 29/01/04.

The award was accepted by the Chairman of the Revenue Commissioners Frank Daly who said he was delighted that Revenue's on-line service had been recognised as a leading innovator in digital media.

Mr. Daly went on to say:

'Few people like completing tax returns and our on-line service was designed to make this task as easy as possible. From small beginnings with three simple forms available and a small number of customers the service has rapidly expanded to cover most business tax returns. In 2003 over 40% of all tax returns for the self employed were filed through ROS. To date over € 12 billion in tax revenues have been paid through ROS and currently over 80% of vehicle registrations are processed on- ine.'

Margaret Whelan, ROS Strategy Manager said,

'ROS has gone from strength to strength since its launch in September 2000 and now supports most business tax returns and payments. The increase in the uptake of the service in 2003 has far exceeded our expectations and we hope to continue to build on this by providing an even better service for our customers in 2004. The success and quality of the service can be attributed to a lot of hard work and effort by many people across Revenue and by our private sector partners'.

ROS is an internet service which provides Revenue's customers and their agents with a secure, safe and confidential facility to file most business tax returns, make payments and access their Revenue account details 24 x 7 x 365.

Since its launch in September 2000, nearly €12bn in payments have been made through ROS, with a total of 2 million transactions in total.

40% of Income Tax Returns and over 80% of Vehicle Registrations are now made through ROS.

  • A ROS Information Desk which is available 8.30 am - 6.30 pm daily with Lo- Call access.
  • Facilities to complete returns either online on the ROS site or offline at a time and place most convenient to our customers
  • Comprehensive Help and Frequently Asked Questions are available throughout the site and there are also online demonstrations available to take customers through the main features of the site.
  • Where relevant ROS calculates the liability for customers based on the information input on each form.
