New Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) Enquiry service
Revenue has launched a new facility to allow customers estimate the Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) liability on the registration of a motor vehicle. Last year Revenue collected over €31 million in VRT on 27,400 imported second-hand vehicles.
The service will be accessible from the Revenue website, www.revenue.ie by clicking on the ROS link. A full printable statement displaying the VRT calculation will be provided on screen when the user gives details of the vehicle they wish to have registered.
The VRT enquiry function will be hosted on the ROS website, however unlike other ROS functionality, it will not require the user to log unto the site using a digital certificate, and so this service will be available to all customers, not just those who have signed up for ROS.
In order to maximise usage of the service, the enquiry function may be accessed by a link in the Revenue website (www.revenue.ie), ROS Public site (www.ros.ie) and will shortly be available on the Oasis Government Site (www.oasis.gov.ie) and REACH Public services broker (www.reach.ie).
