Drug Seizure at Dublin Airport
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service have today (06/09/2007) seized 18Kgs of herbal cannabis with a street value of €216,000. A 35 year-old South African man has been arrested and is currently being held at Santry Garda station. He had arrived into Dublin Airport on a flight from Johannesburg via Zurich. The find was made when drug dog "Thatcher" gave an indication the passenger was carrying drugs. When Customs officers examined his suitcase they found it packed with cannabis.
Investigations are continuing.
