Cocaine seizure in Dublin
In a joint operation involving officers from Revenue's Customs service and Gardai, 8 Kgs of cocaine with a street value of €560,000 has been seized today (12/12/2007). Two Nigerians, a 72-year-old male and a 47-year-old female have been arrested in north Dublin, under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996. They are being detained at Santry Garda Station. They had arrived on a flight from Accra, Ghana.
The find was made as a result of intelligence and is part of on-going operations against drug smuggling from west Africa. Investigations are ongoing.
