Seizure of Cocaine and Cannabis in Dublin
In a joint operation with Garda National Drugs Unit, officers from Revenue's Customs service have today (16/11/2007) seized 20kgs of herbal cannabis valued at €200,000 and 1.5kgs of cocaine valued at €100,000.
The operation began when the herbal cannabis was discovered in the suitcase of a 28 year-old UK female courier who had arrived on a flight from South Africa via Frankfurt, Germany. Subsequent searches in west Dublin resulted in the detection and seizure of the 1.5kgs cocaine together with mixing agents. The courier, a west African female and a west African male have been arrested at the premises under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act and are being held at Store Street Garda station.
