4.5 Million Cigarettes Seized at Dublin Port

Officers from Revenue's Customs Service today (17/08/07) seized approx 4.5m contraband 'Montana' branded cigarettes. The cigarettes, with a retail value of in excess of €1.34m, were concealed among a cover load of televisions transported in a container which had arrived into Dublin Port from the port of Jebel Ali, U.A.E.

The revenue at risk has been calculated at approx. €1.17m.

Investigations are continuing both nationally and internationally.
