Joint Press Release With British Embassy

UK/Irish First For Revenue Agencies

The British Ambassador to Ireland, David Reddaway, and the Chairman of the Revenue Commissioners, Frank Daly, today opened the first UK/Irish Revenue conference on sharing best practice between the respective agencies.

The two-day conference, being held in Dublin Castle, focuses on sharing experiences to identify and explore ways of working together to achieve respective goals.

The Ambassador said: 'This Conference is an important initiative. There are obvious advantages in bringing together UK and Irish customs and tax experts to share best practice and develop still further their existing co-operation. I know that this will be a very productive meeting.'

Frank Daly said: 'At this Conference we will build on the already excellent relations which exist between Revenue and HMRC. We deal with similar risks and face similar challenges. Today we will share experiences, see how we can streamline information exchange and learn from each other. The outcome will be closer working and a stronger response to tax evasion.'
