Revenue’s Decentralised Office in Kilrush is Officially Opened
Mr. Noel Ahern, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Finance today (31/10/2007) officially opened Revenue’s decentralised office in Kilrush. The office which is situated in Enterprise House, Cappagh Road will be the location for 58 staff from Revenue’s Collector-General division.
The business activities carried out in Kilrush will include both tax collection and enforcement for a section of Revenue’s customer base. The office will also be responsible for the promotion and administration of direct debit for the payment of tax. In 2006 over €3.8 billion was paid to the Collector-General via direct debit.
Speaking at the opening Minister Ahern, who has special responsibility for the Office of Public Works said:
"I am happy to acknowledge the positive way that Revenue has embraced the decentralisation challenge. Indeed, while meeting this challenge it has also taken the opportunity to maximise its business reengineering opportunities that this decentralisation project has afforded."
The Chairman of the Revenue Commissioners, Mr Frank Daly said:
"The management team in the Collector-General’s Office was from the start most anxious to ensure a good mix of work in the new locations to ensure opportunities for mobility and a variety of interesting work for staff. The Board was very happy to support this objective and I am happy to say that this objective has been achieved."
The official opening at Kilrush is the first of two new offices which Minister Ahern will open in two days for Revenue. Tomorrow (1st November) he will officially open Revenue’s decentralised office in Listowel.
