Two Arrests in Dublin Port
Officers from Revenue's Customs service in Dublin Port have arrested two Romanian men aged 36 years and 19 years, under Section 119 of the Finance Act, in connection with cigarette smuggling. A total of 31,000 cigarettes were seized with a value of €11,500. A bus in which the two men were travelling has also been detained. The 36-year-old man has appeared in court where bail has been set at €6000 while the other man is due to appear later today.
The cigarettes were recovered when customs officers searched the bus after it disembarked from a car-ferry. Cigarettes were found in luggage and hidden behind a panel on the bus.
