Revenue Commissioners and Rwanda Revenue Authority sign agreement on co-operation


The Revenue Commissioners have this week signed a Memorandum of Co-operation with the Rwanda Revenue Authority which is designed to facilitate the exchange of information and best practice on tax and Customs modernisation and specific areas of expertise. The Memorandum was signed in Dublin Castle on 6 March by Frank Daly, Revenue Commissioners Chairman and Commissioner General Mary Baine, Head of the Rwanda Revenue Authority.

Speaking at the signing ceremony Mr Daly said:

"We are pleased to sign this agreement with the Rwanda Revenue Authority. We are committed to playing our part in fostering and developing international co-operation and we are certain that this agreement will serve the common interests of both our organisations".

Commissioner General Baine said:

"We are absolutely delighted to sign a co-operation agreement with the Revenue Commissioners. The Rwandan Revenue Authority regards this agreement as a significant milestone in our ongoing development. We are convinced that both ourselves and Irish Revenue have much to gain from institutional co-operation".

The areas of co-operation envisaged in the Memorandum includes the sharing of information on new developments and on general matters of tax and Customs administration and enforcement. It also allows for the exchange of expert personnel on a short term basis.
