Drug Seizures at Dublin Airport

Officers from Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Airport today (14/02/2008), seized one kilo of Cocaine valued at €70,000 which had arrived in a freight consignment from Canada.

The drugs were concealed in a child's toy house (Dora the Explorer) being imported through cargo. Officers believe it was destined for a Dublin based gang.

This follows the seizure of 5.5kgs of Herbal Cannabis yesterday (13/02/2008) from a passenger who had arrived on a flight from Alicante. Officers discovered the drugs, valued at €66,000 in the baggage of a 24 year-old UK national. He was arrested and handed over to the Gardai at Dublin Airport for questioning.

He appeared before the District Court this morning and was remanded in custody.
