Cocaine Seizure at Dublin Airport
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Airport yesterday (15/10/2008) seized approximately 2.3 kgs of cocaine with a street value of €161,000.
The drugs were discovered when officers stopped a 44-year-old Dutch male and searched his baggage. The drugs were concealed in the back support of a haversack, compressed in a plastic packaging.
The man had arrived on a flight from Amsterdam having previously travelled from Quito, Ecuador. He was arrested and handed over to the Garda Drugs Unit in Santry for questioning and is due to appear in Dublin District Court this afternoon.
To date in 2008 officers of Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Airport have seized over €6 million worth of drugs.
