Cigarette Seizures at Dublin Airport

Officers of Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Airport today, (21/10/2008), arrested a 28-year-old Romanian male national attempting to smuggle 20,000, L & M brand, cigarettes into Ireland from the Ukraine.

Officers discovered the cigarettes while searching the baggage of the man who had arrived on a flight from the Ukraine via Frankfurt.

The man later appeared in the Dublin District Court and was remanded in custody by Judge Denis McLoughlin to appear again in Cloverhill Court on Friday next (24/10/2008)

In a further operation today Customs Officers seized 85,000 Benson & Hedges brand cigarettes from two men who had arrived on a flight from Karachi via Istanbul, Turkey. The men were released after questioning and files are being prepared for the DPP.
