Cocaine and Cannabis seized in Offaly
In a joint operation involving Revenues Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs Unit and foreign law enforcement agencies, drugs with a street value of €500,000.00 have been seized in Co. Offaly. The haul included 6Kgs of cocaine and 8Kgs of herbal cannabis found concealed inside two vehicles that had earlier arrived in Ireland by ferry through Dublin Port.
One Lithuanian man, aged 39, has been arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. He is being held at Tullamore Garda Station.
This operation, targeting international drug trafficking, forms part of an investigation of Lithuanian organised crime groups involved in the trafficking of drugs into Ireland.
