Custom Officers detect Cannabis Resin at Shannon
Officers from Revenue Customs Service at Shannon Airport last night (23 July 2008) detained a male on suspicion of having drugs concealed internally. After questioning he was found to have swallowed 175 pellets of Cannabis Resin weighing approximately one kilogram and valued at €12,000.
The man, a 34 year old UK national, had arrived on a flight from Spain when Officers became suspicious. He was accompanied by another male in his 30's who was also detained when he was found in possession of a small quantity of cocaine.
Both men are currently being held under medical supervision at the Midwestern Regional Hospital.
