€8 Million Cannabis seizure in Rosslare
Officers from Revenue's Customs service in Rosslare have this afternoon (28/04/2008) seized approximately 1145 Kgs of cannabis resin with a street value of over €8million. Two Irish nationals, a man and a woman, both in their twenties, have been arrested and are currently being questioned in Wexford garda station.
The drugs were discovered hidden amongst legitimate cargo on a container which had arrived by ferry from Cherbourg, France. The drugs were packed on two wooden pallets and were described as 'footwear'.
The drugs were discovered following risk profiling by Customs officers who were assisted in the examination by drug detection dog, Dillon.
