Drugs seized in Dublin in joint Customs and Garda operation

50kg of herbal cannabis with a street value of EUR 600,000 was seized last night (Saturday, 1 August) in Dublin in a joint operation involving officers from Revenue's Customs Service and Gardai from the Garda National Drugs Squad. The seizure took place after two vans were stopped, one in Rathcoole and the other on the N4 near Lucan.

Two Irish males in the 30's have been arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act (1996) and are currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station.

The drugs had been imported through Dublin Port earlier in the evening.
