€1million Cocaine seizure in Dublin
Following a joint operation involving officers from Revenue's Customs Service in Dublin Airport and the Garda National Drug Unit, 13Kgs of Cocaine, with an approximate street value of €1million was seized in Dublin today (04/09/2009).
The drugs had arrived at Dublin Airport by air courier from Spain. The consignment had been declared as ‘spare parts’.
This joint operation resulted in the arrest of two Irish males aged 51 and 45 in the Ballymun area at approximately 11.30am and are currently detained at Ballymun Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 in connection with the importation.
One of those arrested is believed to be a major figure in the International drugs trade.
Investigations are continuing.
