Customs seize Cigarettes worth over €1.6 Million

Officers of the Revenue Custom's service from Dublin Port, last night (16/11/2009), seized between five and six million cigarettes near Dundalk.

The Regal brand cigarettes, described on the manifest as 'hair extensions', arrived in a 45 foot container in Dublin Port last week from Barcelona. The cigarettes, concealed in 25 wrapped pallets along with empty boxes, were discovered when examined by officers as part of normal profiling.

The revenue at risk is in excess of €1.6 million.
