26 Pallets of Beer seized by Customs in Louth

Officers of Revenue's Customs Service based in Dundalk Co. Louth seized 26 Pallets of Beer valued at €70,548 on Wednesday (21/10/2009).

1,215 cases of 24x500ml cans of 'Coors Light' and 756 cases of 24x330ml bottles of 'Miller' were seized at a premises in Co Louth. One Irish male in his 40's was interviewed and enquiries are continuing. The consignment originated in the UK and is believed to have been destined for the market in the State.

The potential loss to the exchequer in excise duty and VAT is €28,590.
