€300,000 of Cannabis seized by Customs at Dublin Airport
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Airport, today (25/03/2009), seized approximately 24 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €300,000.
The drugs were discovered in the baggage of a 46 year-old male French national who had arrived on a flight from Johannesburg, South Africa. They were concealed within a DVD player and other gift-wrapped items.
The man was arrested and handed over to the Santry Garda Drug Squad and is due to appear in court tomorrow morning.
This seizure brings the total value of drugs seized by Revenue's Customs officers at Dublin Airport to over €2million this year, with €1million worth of drugs seized in March alone.
