Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs opens new Revenue office in Galway

The Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Mr. Éamon Ó Cuív TD, today (27/04/2009), officially opened the new Revenue office at 'Geata na Cathrach', Fairgreen, Galway.

Opening the building, Minister Ó Cuív said:

"I congratulate all involved in providing this fine new office for Revenue here in Galway. You have provided an impressive modern building for Revenue staff and customers alike. The location and the facilities are first class. The innovative manner in which Revenue has optimised its use of staff and technology, and its particularly successful on-line services, has resulted in a model of excellence in terms of public service modernisation. I would like to commend Revenue on this achievement."

Speaking at the opening Ceremony, Revenue Chairman, Josephine Feehily said:

"The consolidation of Revenue staff here from three buildings will give us an opportunity to secure efficiencies while at the same time maintaining excellent customer service to Galway and Roscommon taxpayers."

The opening of 'Geata na Cathrach' has facilitated the consolidation into one building of about 200 Galway-based staff from two Revenue Districts, Galway County and Galway City/Roscommon. The new building provides modern and efficient facilities for staff and deals with all aspects of Revenue business- tax, customs and excise - for employees, self employed and corporate customers based in Galway City and County and in Co. Roscommon.
