Firearms Seized in Co. Louth
In a joint operation involving officers of Revenue’s Customs service and the Gardaí at Bellurgan, a quantity of offensive weapons and a viable explosive device were discovered at a premises in Co. Louth this morning (30/11/09).
The weapons seized included 30 stunguns disgused as mobile phones. The explosive device was made safe by the Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit.
Two people were arrested by Gardaí under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and investigations are ongoing.
