9 million Cigarettes Seized at Dublin Port

Officers from Revenue's Customs Service today (04/08/10) seized nine million cigarettes at Dublin Port.

The seizure, which is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes, has a potential retail value of €3.8m and a potential loss to the exchequer of €3 million.

Officers intercepted and examined a container with its contents described as "disposable cups".

Investigations are ongoing.
