Customs Seize 10.5 Million Cigarettes in Dublin Port
Officers from Revenue’s Customs Service based at Dublin Port, today (13/05/2010) seized 10.5 million cigarettes with an estimated street value of €4.7m and a potential loss to the exchequer of approximately €3.5m.
Officers intercepted and examined a 40-foot container with its contents described as "Furniture".
The consignment comprised of 6.8 million "Mayfair" brand cigarettes and 3.7 million "Benson & Hedges" brand cigarettes. Investigations are ongoing.
