Customs Seize 7.2 Million Cigarettes in Dublin Port
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service based at Dublin Port, today (19/04/2010) seized 7.2 million Marlboro cigarettes with an estimated street value of €3.1m and a potential loss to the exchequer of approximately €2.4m.
Officers intercepted and examined a 40-foot container, which had arrived from Spain via Rotterdam.
The consignment of cigarettes was concealed in a shipment described as 'Office Furniture'.
The seizure was as a result of risk profiling.
Investigations are on going.
