Drugs seized in Waterford in joint Customs and Garda operation

150kg of herbal cannabis with a street value of €1.8 million was seized in Waterford today (20/04/10) in a joint operation involving officers from Revenue's Customs Service and Waterford Gardai.

The seizure took place after a van was stopped in the Waterford city area. The drugs had earlier been imported as part of a cargo load from continental Europe.

One Irish male has been arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act (1996) and is currently detained at Ballybricken Garda Station.
