Cocaine Seizure in Tuam in Joint Customs and Garda Operation
Following a joint operation involving officers from Revenue’s Customs Service officers and members of the Garda Drug Unit, Galway, 150g of Cocaine, with an approximate street value of EUR 10,500, was seized in Tuam, Co. Galway today (23/08/2010).
As a result of the operation three men, all foreign nationals, in their 20’s have been arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and are being held at Millstreet Garda station, Galway.
The drugs had been imported in a parcel originating in Peru.
Investigations are ongoing.
Also, in the past week further joint operations between Revenue’s Customs Service and Gardai has resulted in the seizure of:
- 1 Kg Cannabis Herb with a street value of € 12,000 in Dundalk resulting in one arrest of an Irish National in his 20’s
- 3000 Diazepam tablets in Mullingar - one arrest - enquiries ongoing by Customs, Gardai and Irish Medicines Board
- 320g Cocaine with a street value of € 22, 400 in Carlow - investigations ongoing.
