Customs Seize Cash at Dublin Airport
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service, yesterday morning (10/11/2011), seized €85,000 when they stopped and searched a 49-year-old British male as he was boarding a flight to Malaga. The discovery was made as a result of routine profiling.
The cash was concealed in items of clothing in the man's suitcase.
The cash was seized by Customs in accordance with Section 38, Criminal Justice Act 1994 as amended by Section 20, Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Act 2005.
In Dublin Circuit Court, this morning (11/11/2011), Officers were granted a three month detention order by Judge Timothy Lucey, in order to carry out further investigations.
To-date this year Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Airport have made 16 cash seizures amounting to approximately €391,000.
