Cash Seized at Dublin Airport
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service, yesterday afternoon (11/11/2011), seized €69,400 when they stopped and searched a 45 year old Hungarian male, as he was boarding a flight to Budapest. The discovery was made as a result of routine profiling.
he cash was seized by Customs in accordance with Section 38, Criminal Justice Act 1994 as amended by Section 20, Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Act 2005.
In Dublin District Court this morning (12/11/2011), Officers were granted a three month detention order by Judge Hugh O'Donnell, in order to carry out further investigations.
This is the second cash seizure made by Customs in Dublin Airport this week, (€85,000 was seized on 10/11/2011). To date this year there have been 17 cash seizures totalling €460,400 made in Dublin Airport.
