Customs Seize Drugs in Dublin
Revenue's Customs Service, yesterday (13/01/2011), in a joint operation with the Garda National Drugs Unit, seized 14 kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of €1 million, pending forensic analysis.
The drugs were seized in two separate locations, one in Dublin Airport and one in a Dublin hotel, in consignments originating from the Caribbean.
Two females, one in her forties and one in her twenties were arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and are currently being held at Finglas Garda Station.
The operation was as a result of ongoing operatons between Revenue's Customs Service and the Gardai, targetting the smuggling of cocaine from the Caribbean.
