Customs Seize Cash at Dublin Airport
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service, yesterday (13/09/2011), seized €8,000 when they stopped and searched a 25 year old Irish male as he was boarding a flight to Amsterdam.
The cash was concealed in the man's footwear and in clothing in a carry on suitcase.
The cash was seized by Customs in accordance with Section 38, Criminal Justice Act 1994 as amended by Section 20, Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Act 2005.
In Dublin Circuit Court, this morning (14/09/2011), officers were granted a three month detention order by Judge Miriam Malone, in order to carry out further investigations.
To-date this year Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Airport have made 15 cash seizures amounting to approximately €306,000.
