Seizure of Herbal Cannabis in Galway
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service based in Dublin and Galway, today (22/03/2011), in a joint operation with members of the Garda National Drugs Unit and Galway Gardai, seized 20 Kgs of Herbal Cannabis in Galway.
The cannabis with an approximate street value of €250,000, was in a holdall which had earlier been imported through Dublin Port from Belgium and was transferred under surveillance to Galway.
Two Irish men in their forties, have been arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and are being held at Millstreet Garda station.
Both men were arrested at the handover of the drugs and investigations are ongoing.
