While this scheme is administered exclusively through Revenue’s online systems, local Revenue offices are available to provide assistance to customers who don’t have online access. You can find contact details for your local Revenue office at Contact Locator.

Make sure you have the following handy as you will need them to check that the records your Contractor has entered on HRI online are correct and to make your claim on HRI online.

Documents containing:

  • A description of the work
  • The estimated start and end date
  • The estimated cost
  • The payment date
  • The payment amount showing the VAT breakdown
  • Details of any grant, insurance or compensation amounts.

The HRI tax credit can be claimed through myAccount the year after the qualifying work is carried out and paid for.

Qualifying work carried out and paid for between 25 October 2013 and 31 December 2013 will be treated as if it was paid for in 2014 for tax credit purposes for Homeowners.

Qualifying work carried out and paid for between 15 October 2014 and 31 December 2014 will be treated as if it was paid for in 2015 for tax credit purposes for Landlords.

HRI claims for 2014 can be made by Homeowners through myAccount in 2015. HRI claims for 2015 can be made by Landlords through ROS or myAccount from January 2016.

Note: Payments which are not yet available to claim (as the minimum qualifying spend amount hasn’t been reached or the claim date isn’t the year after the payment date) are marked * in HRI online.

The tax credit for 2014 claims for Homeowners will be given in 2015 and 2016.

The tax credit for 2015 claims for Landlords will be given in 2016 and 2017.
