Revenue seizes 25,000 cigarettes in Limerick

Officers from Revenue's Customs Service yesterday (16/05/12), seized over 25,000 cigarettes in Limerick City as part of a planned operation. The seizure, which is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes, has a potential retail value of €11,000 and a potential loss to the exchequer of over €8,500.

Officers executed a search warrant at the private residence of a Chinese national in his forties, who was questioned.

The investigation is ongoing with a view to prosecution.
