Cigarettes seized at Rosslare
Officers from Revenue's Customs Service at Rosslare yesterday, (19/04/2012), seized 32,800 cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €14,300 and a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €11,500.
The 'Marlboro' brand cigarettes were discovered when officers stopped and searched the car of a male Polish national in his 30's, who had travelled by ferry from Cherbourg, France. The cigarettes were deeply concealed in the car.
The seizure was as a result of profiling.
