Revenue seizes €2.6m of cannabis

In an intelligence-led joint operation between Revenue's Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs Unit this afternoon (21/07/12), 106kgs of herbal cannabis and 112kgs of cannabis resin were seized in an industrial unit in the Ballymount area of Dublin.

The operation, which was targeting a Dublin-based organised crime group, resulted in the seizure of cannabis with an approximate street value of €2.6m. The consignment arrived into the country through Dublin Port from the Netherlands.

Investigations are continuing.
