Customs seize drugs worth €6.5m
As a result of a joint controlled delivery involving Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Port and the Garda National Drugs Unit, approximately 800kgs of cannabis with an estimated street value of €6.5m was seized.
Revenue's Customs Service are satisfied that the 800kgs of cannabis which was consigned as 'frozen meat products' arrived from Holland into Dublin Port.
Following an initial search of a premises in Ballyfermot, cannabis with an estimated street value of €3.6m was seized. A follow-up search revealed a further quantity of cannabis in Naas, Co. Kildare with an estimated street value of €2.9m.
Two males aged 36 and 43 were arrested and detained at Clondalkin Garda Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
