Revenue seizes tobacco at Shannon Airport

Officers from Revenue's Customs Service today (23/12/13) seized 9kgs of roll-your-own tobacco at Shannon Airport with a retail value of €4,089 and a loss to the exchequer of €3,486.

In a targeted operation, officers discovered the illegal tobacco concealed in picture frames which had arrived via airfreight from Hong Kong into Shannon.

Investigations are ongoing.
