Revenue seizes tobacco at Dublin Port

In an intelligence-led operation, officers from Revenue's Customs Service this morning (05/02/14) seized over 7.5kgs illegal tobacco with an estimated retail value of €3,261.49 and potential loss to the Exchequer of €2,776.33 at Dublin Port.

The "Amber Leaf" tobacco was discovered concealed in a vehicle which had arrived on a ferry from Holyhead. An Irish man in his 30s has been questioned and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes in the shadow economy.
