Electronic tax filing deadline: online filers increased again this year

By midnight last night (13/11/14), over 397,000 income tax returns for 2013 were filed through ROS, the Revenue Online Service, which represents an increase of 4.5% on last year. Filing numbers were strong throughout yesterday with over 58,000 returns filed online on the day.

Early indications suggest that over 90% of timely filers used the electronic route this year compared to 88% last year. The online payment of tax also increased this year, up 7.5% on last year.

The ROS & Payment Support helpdesks, which remained open until midnight last night, answered over 1,500 calls and 600 emails yesterday assisting customers and practitioners to file returns and make payments right up to the deadline.
