Revenue seizes tobacco at Dublin Airport
As a result of routine profiling, officers from Revenue's Customs Service yesterday (22/10/14) seized 105.5kgs of roll-your-own tobacco with a retail value of €46,000* at Dublin Airport.
Three males, aged 40, 38 and 24, were intercepted after arriving on a flight from Charleroi, Belgium yesterday evening. Revenue’s tobacco detection dog Frankie gave an indication and the tobacco was discovered in their baggage. All three were questioned in relation to the attempted importation and files are being prepared.

*The tobacco seized represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of €37,000. This is assuming that it would have displaced the equivalent full tax paid quantity of tobacco.
