Revenue seizes €4.5m of herbal cannabis at Dublin Port
As a result of profiling, officers from Revenue’s Customs Service today (26/11/14) seized 200kgs of herbal cannabis with a street value of €4.5 million at Dublin Port.
The cannabis, which was double vacuum packed, was discovered concealed within 1,050 catering tins of olives in oil. Officers believe the drugs were destined for the United Kingdom and were transiting through Ireland, having originated in Spain.
Investigations are continuing here with international enquiries ongoing in Spain and the UK.
[Ends: 26/11/14]
Profiling involved examination of all elements of the international supply chain in respect of any given trade transaction. Having weighed up all the information officers made the decision to intercept the consignment.
