Revenue announces extension to LPT deadline

Due to the very large volume of calls to the LPT Helpline over the last two days* and the extremely heavy filing rate of almost 8,000 payment notifications per hour**, the Revenue Commissioners have decided to extend the 2015 LPT payment deadline to 4pm on Friday 9th January.

The LPT Helpline (1890 200 255) will remain open from 8am to 8pm on both Wednesday (7th) and Thursday (8th) and from 8am to 4pm on Friday (9th).

Based on the types of calls received by the Helpline over the last number of days, such as requests for Property ID and PIN and information on payment dates and payment options the Commissioners would like to advise that most transactions can be done through the online system without any need to make contact.

For example:

  • A property owner who does not have their Property ID or PIN can apply on-line to have the Property ID and PIN reissued to them.
  • Payment date and option information is available in the LPT section of the website.
  • You don’t need to do anything if you paid your 2014 LPT by phased payment method (that is, by direct debit or deduction at source from salary/occupational pension or from certain Government payments) or deferred the full charge or if you claimed an exemption. Your current payment method/exemption will automatically apply for 2015.

Any property owner that paid by lump sum or cash payment in 2014 and wishes to pay by phased payments for 2015 was to advise Revenue by 25th November last to allow time to put the necessary arrangements in place to start deductions in January 2015. The Commissioners would encourage any property owners who still wish to switch to phased arrangements but have not yet confirmed their payment preference, to avail of the extended date and immediately inform Revenue of their payment method. Revenue will make every effort to implement their preferred choice for January but failing that will certainly have it in place for February thereby ensuring an equal deduction over the remaining 11 months of the year.

Act before the new deadline of 4pm on Friday 9th January expires to avoid interest, penalties and enforcement activity.
