€1.5m of heroin seized in Dublin in a joint operation between Revenue and An Garda Síochána

As part of an intelligence-led, joint operation between the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau of An Garda Síochána and Revenue’s Customs Service, approximately 10kgs of diamorphine (heroin) with an estimated street value of €1.5 million was seized yesterday (19/08/15) following the interception of two vehicles on the Naas Road, southbound, close to Rathcoole.

During the course of this joint operation two males (aged 39 and 32) were arrested for drug trafficking offences and were detained at Clondalkin Garda Station, under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Four premises were searched in Counties Wexford and Dublin.

Both men have been charged with drug trafficking offences and will be appearing in the Criminal Court of Justice at 10.30am this morning.
