Revenue seizes cocaine, cash and cigarettes at Dublin Airport
As a result of a number of separate, intelligence-led operations at Dublin Airport this weekend, Revenue seized 5.7kgs of cocaine, €10,120 in cash and over 41,000 cigarettes.
On Sunday afternoon (27/9/15), Revenue officers, with the assistance of detection dog Scooby, seized 5.7kgs of cocaine worth €400,000 from a 48 year old Italian male who had arrived in on a flight from Dubai. The drugs were discovered concealed in his baggage. He was arrested by An Garda Siochána and is due to appear in court later today.
In a separate operation on Saturday (26/9/15), officers seized over 41,000 cigarettes with a retail value of €20,600* when they stopped and searched the luggage of two Polish males who had arrived in on a flight from Warsaw, Poland.
On Friday (25/9/15), officers detained €10,120 in cash from a Polish male in his thirties travelling from Poland. Officers detained the cash in accordance with the proceeds of crime legislation and Judge Coughlan granted a three month detention order on Saturday (26/9/15) at Dublin District Court to facilitate further investigations.

*The cigarettes seized represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €16,000. This is assuming that they would have displaced the equivalent full tax paid quantity of cigarettes.
