Revenue seizes cigarettes and alcohol at Dublin Port

This morning (09/10/2017) at Dublin Port, Revenue officers seized 598 litres of alcohol and 6,700 cigarettes with a potential loss to the Exchequer of €6,700. In routine, risk-based operations, officers discovered the smuggled goods when they stopped and searched a truck arriving in Dublin Port from Holyhead, and two vans and a car arriving from Cherbourg.

These seizures are part of Revenue's on going operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and alcohol in the shadow economy. If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding the smuggling or sale of illegal cigarettes, tobacco or alcohol, they can contact Revenue in confidence on free phone number 1800 295 295.
