Revenue seize puppy at Dublin Port this morning

This morning (28/11/2018), Revenue officers at Dublin Port seized a puppy when they stopped and questioned a UK national, in routine operations. The man, who was travelling from the UK, did not have a pet passport for the puppy, nor was the puppy microchipped as required under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013.

The puppy, a male chihuahua, was transferred into the care of the DSPCA, where he is receiving urgent veterinary attention. Revenue collaborates closely with the DSPCA and other bodies to combat illegal puppy trading.

A follow-up investigation is now underway.

If you have any information about smuggling please contact Revenue’s Confidential Freephone number 1800 295 295.
